Introduction

The Alphas and Alpharines Foundation was established in 2018. The foundation was motivated by the continuously declining matric results percentages in the local schools within our communities.

Our Vision

We aim to improve knowledge accessibility in schools by carrying out career awareness campaigns at randomly selected local schools every year, in a rotation manner. During these campaigns learners from grades 10 to 12 can participate and ask questions on fields of studies they are interested in pursuing after matriculation.

Our Mission

To provide prospectuses from South African Universities to learners so they can have access to information on what, where, when, and how to pursue a career in a certain field of interest.

To invite a successful motivational speaker per exhibition and workshop to motivate learners and elevate their interest in education and before every exam term.

To provide adequate stationery for every grade 12 student, to eliminate the care-free stigma and ignorance in class participation cases.

To invite successful black-owned businesses to showcase how they got into their specialty fields, what challenges they encounter and how they solve them.

Events Standard Protocol

We have annual career exhibition events. Each year a School around the Molepo area is selected for proposition of hosting the event. Once the School has

Schools are given rules and regulations of how the event will take place and be carried out. This are:

  1. Learners are expected to be accompanied by at least two teachers from the invited school
  2. Learners are obliged to wear their respective school uniforms.
  3. The School should inform learners that we do not provide transportation to the Host school area on the day of the event. As a result, The School should encourage learners to find their own mode of transport to the event or provide the transport to the learners.
  4. The School should inform the learners that we may not provide lunch boxes or refreshments at the day of the event due to lack of funding. As a results, learners should bring their own lunch or refreshments to the event.
  5. There will be pictures and videos taken on the day of the event, which will later be posted on our social media platforms & our website for profile building purpose and sponsorship marketing purposes. Should any person feel uncomfortable with being photo- or video- graphed, they will need to specifically communicate that with any of the A&A Foundation Employees.
  6. Due to the recent passing of the Protection of personal information act (POPIA Act), Alphas and Alpharines Foundation will bring along forms that the students will have to fill to allow collection of personal information for compliance with the POPIA Act.

Mode of delivery

  1. Alphas and Alpharines Foundation collects all sources of information the learners needs from Higher Institutions and NSFAS. This include electronic and/or hardcopies of prospectuses, flyers etc.
  2. Alphas and Alpharines Foundation builds up a team (volunteers) of diverse knowledge per Industry or Employment Sector. This could range from skilled, professional and business/entrepreneurial personnel’s. Each employment sector will have a station where a minimum of two representatives will be assigned to. The stations are labeled, so that leaners can easily navigate to their station of interest.
  3. Learners are encouraged to take one item per station they visit.
  4. Learners are also encouraged to take contacts of the personnel representing sectors they would love to work in one day. They are encouraged to communicate and ask to be mentored by those representatives
  5. Alphas and Alpharines Foundation collects all relevant information needed for applications
  6. Our applications package includes; 2 Universities/Colleges/FET and a NSFAS application per student. Students are guided on how to choose courses, or institution of interest based on their marks and institution statistics.
  7. Alphas and Alpharines Foundation will only apply for a student at Institutions they have a change of being accepted in without having to be waitlisted. The decision is made based on the current report marks the student will be applying for admission with, not the final year Grade 12 marks.
